Wow!!! Well built Hamakua home. Looking for privacy and self-sufficient living, you have found it. This breathtaking property offers outstanding ocean views, and has so much potential.
The current owner has truly developed an estate to be proud of. The original 1945 building, offers a blank canvas for development. It is currently a storage building, but could be so much more. It has views throughout. The main building slightly up hill of this, has one bedroom, a sleeping nook, wood burning fireplace, 2 car garage or workshop, vaulted ceilings, granite counters and great attention to detail. The home is off grid with 12 solar panels generating 75 watts, 8 batteries and a 6500 Honda back up generator. The construction is overbuilt with 5/8 smart panel on the ceilings and walls along with 5/8 sheetrock.
The property is poised to live off the land at a good elevation and great soil. Access is via a private road approximately half a mile from the paved County road. This means literally you may not see another person for days if you don't want to. The property has a secure 50x50 orchard planted with 37 shrubs and trees including longan, lychee, lemon, lime, tangerine, kumquat, finger limes, avocado, ulu, bananas, mamey sapote, fig, bayleaf. The home even has sycamore maple trees. There are 6 grazing paddocks for the animals with good fencing. Seller is conveying a small herd of tame cattle with the sale. A must when you have this much land to maintain. There are 2 catchments which using gravity feed has 28 pounds of head pressure supplying water troughs around the property. There are 2 reservoirs and a seasonal stream. The property was never planted in sugar cane to the best of the Sellers knowledge.
Enjoy sunsets and sunrises from your large lanai facing the ocean. On a clear day you may even see the whales breaching in whale season. The property is truly magical and ready for the right buyer to create their special memories.

North Hilo

Know for nearly ideal tropical weather, stunning cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean and vast expanses of hardwood forests, the North Hilo district on the Big Island's Hamakua Coast is home to several small communities, including Ninole, Papaaloa, Laupahoehoe and Ookala.

Here, historic plantation villages lie nestled among large expanses of agricultural and forested lands. This is a place where residents enjoy country living, but can also take advantage of North Hilo's close proximity to Hilo town.

Those least familiar with North Hilo likely know the stretch of Hawaii Belt Road that runs through the district for the three dramatic gulches that define this section of the Hamakua Coast drive: Maulua Gulch, Laupahoehoe Gulch and Kaawalii Gulch. Those more familiar with the district are acquainted with its rich history, including its deep roots in the sugar plantation era, traces of which are still very evident today.

A significant amount of land in this area is zoned as either agricultural or "forest reserve" conservation land. In some cases, residential properties are located adjacent to expansive forests of prized Koa or Ohia trees. As with the rest of the Big Island, this is a place where both plantation-style village homes and multi-million dollar estates are common offerings among listings for sale.

Our agents know this area well and have great respect for the heritage of the community. Working with a knowledgable Clark Realty agent will help those interested in Hamakua Coast real estate successfully navigate the ins and outs of rural Big Island real estate.
