Sitting above a beautiful cove, this architecturally designed home is the ultimate in seclusion and privacy and was created to perfectly blend into the Hawaii lifestyle using materials that will endure the test of time in a timeless, clean style. Unique and high value materials were used to showcase the Southeast Asian architectural mood while being durable in the tropical climate and strong sun of Hawaii Island.

The house consists of two buildings. The main house has a guest suite with private entrance, "Chef's Kitchen", dining room, living room/lanai, studio/small bedroom, and office. The second building, "sleeping house", is connected to the main house by a colonnade/breezeway, consisting of a master bedroom/lanai, large bathroom, closet, office, and laundry room.

You will love the materials used to create this incredible home. Old growth Burmese teak was used for the flooring, baseboards, soffits, column wraps, floating shelves, bathroom countertops, and fascia; Brazilian soapstone for the kitchen countertops, office desk and printer station, and the wine bar countertop; Indonesian Merbau used in the master suite closet cabinetry, bathroom cabinetry, and the master suite hall cabinetry and countertop. Additionally, there is Chinese sandstone exterior wall cladding, Balinese temple stone interior cladding, double layer Java Ironwood roof shingles, unglazed recessed flat panel doors, multi-panel carriage house style automatic garage doors, and all interior wall and ceiling surfaces are veneer plaster.

If that's not enough, this property includes a Varco Pruden pre-engineered shop building on a slab (30 x 50 x 14), a farm dwelling (shack) that may allow a new structure to be built, 10KW PV solar net-metering system and a deep drilled private water well.

All of this sits on 2.45 acres of lush and mature landscaping providing gorgeous ocean views and ultimate privacy. This gorgeous island home is calling!

North Hilo

Know for nearly ideal tropical weather, stunning cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean and vast expanses of hardwood forests, the North Hilo district on the Big Island's Hamakua Coast is home to several small communities, including Ninole, Papaaloa, Laupahoehoe and Ookala.

Here, historic plantation villages lie nestled among large expanses of agricultural and forested lands. This is a place where residents enjoy country living, but can also take advantage of North Hilo's close proximity to Hilo town.

Those least familiar with North Hilo likely know the stretch of Hawaii Belt Road that runs through the district for the three dramatic gulches that define this section of the Hamakua Coast drive: Maulua Gulch, Laupahoehoe Gulch and Kaawalii Gulch. Those more familiar with the district are acquainted with its rich history, including its deep roots in the sugar plantation era, traces of which are still very evident today.

A significant amount of land in this area is zoned as either agricultural or "forest reserve" conservation land. In some cases, residential properties are located adjacent to expansive forests of prized Koa or Ohia trees. As with the rest of the Big Island, this is a place where both plantation-style village homes and multi-million dollar estates are common offerings among listings for sale.

Our agents know this area well and have great respect for the heritage of the community. Working with a knowledgable Clark Realty agent will help those interested in Hamakua Coast real estate successfully navigate the ins and outs of rural Big Island real estate.
