Take a step back in time and visit this charming, well-maintained, vintage home. You'll delight in the fusion of old meets new and feel at ease the minute you pull in the drive. A lovely hedge and landscaped yard welcome you. Enter the front parlor room, which makes a great formal entry; currently being utilized as an office. Next, step through the Japanese-style, shoji doors into the grand, central, living room. Notice the 9 ft., 1 x 6". ceilings and original hardwood floors, which flow throughout most of the home, further accented by stately molding and antique, wood-framed windows.

On the right are three, nicely sized bedrooms and main bath with full tub, tiled surround & modern vanity. To the left, are the inviting dining room & spacious kitchen, featuring classic built-ins and plenty of light. The kitchen is in great condition, featuring original cabinetry, counters & stainless sink, in a red and white color scheme. Enjoy entertaining and bring out your inner chef with the wonderful amenities such as: stainless, propane range w/exhaust hood, stainless refrigerator (approx. 1-year old), dishwasher (approx. 2-years old), track lighting, disposal and tons of counter & cabinet space. Ceiling fans abound and furnishings negotiable.

Continue through the kitchen into the attached "Tea Room", with it's striking, shoji-windows, opening to a gorgeous view of the ocean and tropical flora. Although unpermitted, this is a space you can enjoy on a daily basis in a variety of ways. Relaxing here never gets old, or use as a yoga/meditation room, art studio or formal dining room for memorable gatherings with friends & family.

Downstairs is finished basement, tastefully rejuvenated with laminate flooring, pine accents & cozy lighting. Typical of the era is a large bathroom w/open, walk-in shower (upgraded with custom tile-work), toilet & basic sink. Laundry, additional storage and per county tax records, a small 4th Bd, are also downstairs.

North Hilo

Know for nearly ideal tropical weather, stunning cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean and vast expanses of hardwood forests, the North Hilo district on the Big Island's Hamakua Coast is home to several small communities, including Ninole, Papaaloa, Laupahoehoe and Ookala.

Here, historic plantation villages lie nestled among large expanses of agricultural and forested lands. This is a place where residents enjoy country living, but can also take advantage of North Hilo's close proximity to Hilo town.

Those least familiar with North Hilo likely know the stretch of Hawaii Belt Road that runs through the district for the three dramatic gulches that define this section of the Hamakua Coast drive: Maulua Gulch, Laupahoehoe Gulch and Kaawalii Gulch. Those more familiar with the district are acquainted with its rich history, including its deep roots in the sugar plantation era, traces of which are still very evident today.

A significant amount of land in this area is zoned as either agricultural or "forest reserve" conservation land. In some cases, residential properties are located adjacent to expansive forests of prized Koa or Ohia trees. As with the rest of the Big Island, this is a place where both plantation-style village homes and multi-million dollar estates are common offerings among listings for sale.

Our agents know this area well and have great respect for the heritage of the community. Working with a knowledgable Clark Realty agent will help those interested in Hamakua Coast real estate successfully navigate the ins and outs of rural Big Island real estate.
