Amazing property in the quaint town of Honomu on the Hamakua Coast. This unique property is tucked back from the road up high on the banks of Paheehee Stream. Once inside your custom home, the tall open beam ceilings with large expansive windows welcomes you in. The natural sunlight warms the room and highlights the hardwood floors in this cozy space. On even the warmest days, you will surely enjoy and appreciate the air conditioning unit for this space. Moving on to the kitchen/dining room, you will truly love the sleek and bright look of the wood cabinets and solid surface countertops. The cabinet and counter space will surely please even the most discriminating cook of the family. French doors lead you out to a covered lanai that runs the width of the home with breathtaking views of the river below (you can hear the stream with the winds rustling through the foliage). As you look up, you have an unobstructed view of Mauna Kea. Imagine yourself sitting here as you enjoy sunsets from your very private lanai.
On this level are 2 bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is currently used as an office/storage. The other bedroom also has French doors that open up to the lanai. You will no doubt fall in love with the downstairs bath with its claw foot tub. Up the hardwood stairs, you will find 2 bedrooms both with access to yet another covered lanai that also runs the width of the home. From here, you still have the amazing river, forest and Mauna Kea views. Both bedrooms are quite ample in size with ceiling fans in each of the rooms. Upstairs is another full bath that has been tastefully updated.
The property is landscaped with tropical plants and foliage. The detached garage also has an attached room which can be used for storage or as a space to enjoy quiet time.
This is truly a one of a kind home and it comes furnished! Great floor plan, 4 bedrooms, 2 lanais, river and forest views, Mauna Kea views and private!

South Hilo

Hilo town, the hub of the South and North Hilo districts, was once a thriving port for the sugar cane industry. Today it is the Hawaii County Seat and home of the island's major state and federal offices, a modern international airport, Hilo Medical Center, the University of Hawaii-Hilo, and state-of-the-art Imiloa Astronomy Center.

Although Hilo is not an incorporated city, it is the second-largest population center in the state with over 40,000 residents according to the 2000 census. Hilo also has an array of commerce and entertainment offerings--boutiques and galleries, big box stores, restaurants, museums, and several hotels.

The historic Bayfront area, though impacted by major tsunamis in 1946 and 1960, is still a center of economic and cultural activity, including a weekly farmers market, Palace Theatre events and the annual Black & White Night, Merrie Monarch, and Ho'olaule'a festivals.

Embracing the town's reputation as "the rainiest city in America", Hilo residents have a certain pride about East Hawaii's weather and enjoy a different flavor of Hawaii life than their neighbors on the dry west side. The Big Island’s famed greenery, tropical fruits and flowers, trees, ferns, forests, and farms all require reliable rainfall to thrive. Water is so important to life in Hawaii that waiwai (the word for "water", doubled) translates as "assets, valuable, wealth, rich, worth and benefit."

As is true for much of the Big Island, Hilo real estate is a mixed market, with upscale custom homes and fixer-upper "opportunity" properties, condos, vacation residences, private estates and oceanfront property. A knowledgeable Clark Realty agent can guide you to the best Hilo property for your needs.
