This stunning deluxe unit has a unique custom feel. There are only two deluxe units in the building, flanked by four regular units on each side. In 1993 the entire unit was refurbished completely and includes a fully extended and covered patio, accessed by large sliding doors with screens. An outdoor atrium provides bonus square footage - a perfect art space or yoga room on the ground level. Another feature of this unit is a wonderful custom staircase with teak railings and clear plexiglass panels. The kitchen was refitted with solid oak custom cabinets with brass latches. There are three rolling appliance garages, a butcher block counter top and numerous drawers. Slide-out cabinets and track lighting make for a well lit and convenient food prep area. There is plenty of cabinetry to accommodate a gourmet cook. An extra large kitchen sink replaced the original. Black laminate counter top on one side of the kitchen matches well with the Regency USA dishwasher and Magic Chef range. The floors are African Slate which was artistically placed throughout the entire downstairs and lanai areas. The uniformity of cabinet style continues through the hallway where there is a charming lighted display case. The master bathroom has a pull-down ladder stairway leading to a spacious attic storage compartment. The three bedrooms upstairs all have laminate wood flooring and each bedroom has a bank of windows providing ventilation and light. There are even outdoor storage spaces in the carport. You can lock up tools, garden equipment, surfboards or bicycles. This location is quiet, centrally located to Hilo town. The buildings are well maintained and managed. The grounds have a beautiful tropical feeling. There is a pool with key entry. The garden fixtures and plantings are not included in sale. One of the few complexes with underground utilities! And HOA fees at $343.00 per month make this a very attractive opportunity indeed.

South Hilo

Hilo town, the hub of the South and North Hilo districts, was once a thriving port for the sugar cane industry. Today it is the Hawaii County Seat and home of the island's major state and federal offices, a modern international airport, Hilo Medical Center, the University of Hawaii-Hilo, and state-of-the-art Imiloa Astronomy Center.

Although Hilo is not an incorporated city, it is the second-largest population center in the state with over 40,000 residents according to the 2000 census. Hilo also has an array of commerce and entertainment offerings--boutiques and galleries, big box stores, restaurants, museums, and several hotels.

The historic Bayfront area, though impacted by major tsunamis in 1946 and 1960, is still a center of economic and cultural activity, including a weekly farmers market, Palace Theatre events and the annual Black & White Night, Merrie Monarch, and Ho'olaule'a festivals.

Embracing the town's reputation as "the rainiest city in America", Hilo residents have a certain pride about East Hawaii's weather and enjoy a different flavor of Hawaii life than their neighbors on the dry west side. The Big Island’s famed greenery, tropical fruits and flowers, trees, ferns, forests, and farms all require reliable rainfall to thrive. Water is so important to life in Hawaii that waiwai (the word for "water", doubled) translates as "assets, valuable, wealth, rich, worth and benefit."

As is true for much of the Big Island, Hilo real estate is a mixed market, with upscale custom homes and fixer-upper "opportunity" properties, condos, vacation residences, private estates and oceanfront property. A knowledgeable Clark Realty agent can guide you to the best Hilo property for your needs.
