“Where is home?”

When this question arises, as it so often does when meeting someone new in the islands, I always tell people I feel doubly blessed; I was born and raised in the rolling hills of the Sonoma County wine country and then chose to start my own family in the warmth and beauty of tropical Hawaii. Santa Rosa, CA is my “hometown”— over six generations of my family have been there—but beautiful Kona on the West side of the Big Island is truly the “forever home” where my heart feels at rest.

There is a magical quality (mana) of this island that called to my husband and me every time we visited and tried to leave. In 1993, we finally decided to move to Hawaii and start our own family, taking vacations back to the mainland when we need to reconnect for a while there.  We’ve never regretted that big jump across the ocean.

“Why real estate?”

I came to real estate sales with a background in custom home construction and remodels where I partnered in a design firm business as an interior designer and materials specifier with my husband who is an architect. (Architecture is becoming a family business—our daughter is finishing up her last year of college and will soon join the mix.)  

My favorite part of design over the last ten years has been real estate staging.  It has always felt like a gift to help people transition the homes they have lovingly created as they shift into their next step in life. I guide and consult with my clients as they evaluate the cherished treasures that gave character to the home they are saying goodbye to, helping them decide what to pack, what to keep, and how to present their new home to the market to sell it with ease. To me, a home is so very personal and selling it should be treated with great care to ensure it is a happy and celebrated milestone for all concerned.

After staging with Derinda Thatcher, now a partner and real estate colleague, for a decade, I finally decided to add a real estate license to round out my career in the industry.  Becoming a licensed agent was such a natural extension of everything I already was a part of—designing, building, staging, selling.  

Bringing my years of design and staging experience to Team Sold Hawaii is the perfect fit, complemented by Derinda’s immense experience in the industry as a sales leader and Chelsea Rosario’s infectious energy and technical marketing skills.
