Nerie was born, raised and educated in the Philippines. She is a graduate of Mariano Marcos State University in Laoag City. Before moving to Hawaii in 1992 she taught both intermediate and high school. Since living in Hilo, Nerie has also worked at Hilo Intermediate School. In addition to real estate, she also works for the Hilo-Laupahoehoe-Waiakea Complex as an English Language Learners Resource Teacher.
