John’s first encounter with Hawaii and the Big Island was on a business trip when he was only 21 years old. He was working in the greenhouse industry and was offered a paid trip to visit orchid and foliage growers as a wholesale buyer. Experiencing the plants, the mountains, the climate, and the warm blue waters of the Pacific Ocean opened his eyes and changed him forever. Although he returned to the mainland—becoming a homeowner, renting out a property, being in a long term relationship, attending weddings, funerals and living a happy life—John could not escape the feeling that something was missing. Drawn back to Hawaii, he spent a decade making yearly trips to the Islands to investigate the possibility of relocating permanently.
Initially, John was searching for property without the help of a professional real estate agent and discovered that it was a bit overwhelming. Still, he knew this was where he belonged! In 2016, with the help of two awesome agents (now friends), everything fell into place—the right opportunity to buy a Big Island property and a recommendation for an affiliate agent on the mainland to sell his home there. (It sold the first weekend it was listed, for full asking price, and paved the way for the one-way ticket to paradise later that year.)
John is living proof that, with patience and planning, the move to Hawaii can be done. (He won’t claim that some hard work wasn’t necessary, but he also thinks anything in life worth having is worth working for. ) Daily surrounded by beauty and aloha, he can’t imagine living anywhere else!
John is excited to have the opportunity to assist others with their dream to live in Hawaii. He also believes every resident deserves the chance to be a homeowner. Anything is possible, he says, if you surround yourself with positive people and work hard to make things happen. If you are looking for a new place to call home or are considering a new adventure of your own off-island and are ready to list your property, call John. He will help you set your dream into motion!
