Jaclyn MacKinnon is a resident of Ahualoa on the Hamakua Coast of Hawaii’s Big Island. There, she and her husband live on a 20-acre off-grid farm where they grow shiitake mushrooms to supply local restaurants. Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Jaclyn came to Hawaii in 2005 as an exchange student with UH-Hilo’s geology program. Her love for Hawaii was born during that year and now, through her work in real estate, she enjoys sharing that passion with others who are seeking to move to the Big Island.
With a background in property management and the experience gained from international travel and immigration, Jaclyn’s diverse interests and work history have given her a broad range of skills that benefit her buyer and seller clients. Before becoming a permanent Big Island resident and REALTOR, Jaclyn traveled extensively between Canada and Hawaii and spent time in Greensboro, NC and Portland, OR. She has brewed beer, catered weddings, made wine and even worked as a field-tech for a geophysicist, all experiences that now serve her well in helping clients identify opportunities in real estate as they prepare to list or purchase a home. For those moving to Hawaii from another country, she is especially attuned the additional challenges associated with cross-border transactions and movement and can assist you with navigating the logistics for a successful move.
In addition to her work in real estate, Jaclyn is an artist and owns a greeting card company. She is an active participant in the Waimea Arts Council, promoting and encouraging the visual arts in North Hawaii.
If you are preparing to sell your home or land, Jaclyn is ready to assist you in properly pricing and preparing your property for the market. Or, if you are preparing to make the Big Island your home, please contact Jaclyn with your questions about off-grid living on the Big Island, moving to Hawaii from Canada, to request a list of homes, condos or land available in either the luxury resorts of the Kohala Coast, upcountry where agricultural opportunities await, or elsewhere in North, East or West or South Hawaii. Whatever your specific need, Jaclyn will assist you in finding a property that will work for you.
