I have made Kona my home since 1975 and have made real estate my profession since 1978. For 13 years, I owned my own real estate brokerage, Gerry Rott & Associates, where I specialized in project marketing and development consulting. I sold my company in 1997 but missed the industry and returned to real estate in 2003 with Clark Realty. I have handled the marketing for two projects, Kailua View Estates and The Pines, as Principal Broker and also for Alii Park Place as Sales Manager. I love the challenges that real estate offers and I enjoy working hard for my clients, many of whom have become close friends.
Kona is truly my home. I have raised my family in West Hawaii and have become closely involved with many organizations over the years, including Hospice, the Board of Realtors, PATH, YMCA, the Chamber of Commerce, Hawaii Leeward Planning Conference and the Kailua Village Design Commission.
Involvement in sporting events has also been a significant part of my life since the Ironman Triathlon first came to Kona in 1980. I have served in many capacities including 18 years as the Ironman's Finish Line Director, meeting many athletes and volunteers from around the world along the way.
Through my experiences with Ironman, I was inspired to start a Big Island event, The Lavaman Triathlon, which has grown over the last decade to become a major Olympic distance triathlon with over 1100 athletes participating. Lavaman has become a major source of fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's 'Team in Training' program, raising over $1.2 million in 2010.
I take pride in what I do and dedicate myself to my clients, my community and now also to my sporting events. All of these have one thing very much in common and that is "people." If you are considering buying or selling property on the Big Island, please contact me and allow me to share my knowledge of West Hawaii and West Hawaii real estate with you.
