Gary grew up in Vancouver, Washington. He graduated from Washington State University and then earned a masters degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. While going to school in Hawaii, he met his lovely wife Nani, who is from the Big Island. They have two sons, Lopaka who graduated from the Colorado School of Mines, and Christopher who graduated from the University of Washington.
Gary is a retired commissioned officer of the US Public Health Service where he served for 23 years as an Environmental Health Officer. After retiring from the Public Health Service in 1993, Gary and Nani decided to make the Big Island their permanent home. With an environmental background, real estate was a good transition to begin a second career. Gary is an active member of the Hawaii Island Board of Realtors where he served on the Board of Directors for 4 years. He was awarded the Realtor of the Year award 2008. He is a multi-million dollar producer and was Salesperson of the Year in 2000 and 2004. He was also awarded the conveted “Chairman’s Circle Award” for 2004, placing him in the top 3% of of over 50,000 Prudential real estate agents nationwide.
