Born and raised in Hilo, I spent most of my time fishing, playing ukulele, and playing soccer. After graduating from the University of Hawaii at Hilo with a B.A. in Japanese Studies and a B.A. in Linguistics, I went to Tokyo Gakugei University to further my education.
At graduate school, I did research on the history, language, and culture of Japanese immigrants in Hawaii. By doing so, I gained a lot of knowledge which gave me a deeper understanding of our unique local culture. After getting my M.Ed. (Master of Education degree), I had short stints at an IT company and an English conversation school. Next, I worked for 4 years as an assistant professor teaching English, Japanese, and Linguistics at a 4-year liberal arts university in Tokyo.
After almost ten years in Japan, I felt it was time for me to come back home and make a contribution to the community that has shown so much aloha to me over the years. I am back in the soccer community as an assistant coach for the University of Hawaii at Hilo Men’s Soccer Team.
While growing up in Hawaii, I was always taught to treat others with compassion and lend a helping hand, and living in Japan instilled in me resilience and leadership. As your real estate agent, these values are the foundation of how I will strive to satisfy your needs.
