Narrowing the Choices

Purchasing an existing home or condo is likely to be the faster route, but building your Hawaii home may have its own rewards.

If your timeline requires you to move into a new home within a month or two after you begin your search, the answer is easy: focus on the existing inventory.

If you'd rather spend your Saturday at the beach or on a hiking trail than at a construction site checking in on your tile delivery, again, an easy decision. Choosing a home from the inventory of existing homes and condos is probably the more simple alternative. When you're ready, you can renovate or make cosmetic changes to suit your tastes.

But, if you have time on your side and you're up for the challenge, there is plenty of land for sale on the Big Island. Over 2,300 parcels at the time of this writing.
