Coming in on the heels of an active week of fishing in West Hawaii's Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament, those of us participating in the 15th annual Huggo's Wahine Fishing Tournament were expecting a good day out on the water. What we didn’t expect was to catch a big fish right away!

Kailua-Kona Set For Five Days of Big Game Fishing 

Billfish Parade To Signal Start of 51st HIBT On Sunday, August 1, the Billfish Parade in Kailua-Kona, the "Blue Marlin Capital of the Pacific," will mark the beginning of the 51st annual Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament. The parade will start at 2:30 pm at the King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel and wind its way through Kailua Village, ending at Hualalai Road. “We invite the entire community, young and old, to come and bring their families to this fun-filled parade. Teams are excited to be here in beautiful Kona, fishing 5 great days and look forward to the smiles that await them at the parade,” said HIBT Founder Peter Fithian. “The tournament also recognizes the long standing tradition of the Billfish Parade and really sees this parade as the official start of the 51st Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament.” Participating in the parade will be teams from Australia, South Africa, Tahiti, New Zealand, Korea,...
