On April 10, Hamakua Harvest welcomes The Harmony People from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm for live entertainment while you shop and eat. For the educational guest, Hamakua Harvest is pleased to host "Seed Planting and Community Talk-Story" at the market for a follow-up to the Building Resilient Seed Systems for Hawaii event scheduled for the day before at North Hawaii Education and Research Center.

Hamakua Harvest Farmers Market Grand Opening Set for Sunday, September 6 in Honoka'a 

Hamakua Harvest Farmers Market Grand Opening In the spring of 2014, we shared an announcement about plans to develop a regional agricultural hub project, Hamakua Harvest, in Honoka'a. Those plans are now a reality! The Big Island's newest farmers market, the Honoka'a Farmers Market, will celebrate its Grand Opening this Sunday, September 6, from 9am to 2pm at the intersection of Mamane St. and Hwy 19. There will be 20 vendors featuring locally grown and locally made products. Dennis Padilla & Friends will provide entertainment from 10 am to noon and there will be workshops for both adults and keiki. Proposed Honoka'a Agricultural Hub to Include Farmers Market and Demonstration Farm  

For those who grew up in Hawaii during the decline of the sugar industry, news about community based sustainability projects that will build stability for food security for our island brings hope and excitement. The proposed regional agricultural hub project Hamakua Harvest, is one such initiative. The proposed location for Hamakua Harvest is at the corner of the Hawaii Belt Highway (Hwy 19) and Mamane Street (Hwy 240). Visionary and groundbreaking in scope, the project is gathering steam and could start to become a reality as early as the Spring of 2015. The first planned phase is an all-weather farmers market that will feature local products from up to 26 vendors and serve as a venue for workshops, information booths, youth-focused activities and entertainment.
