Big Island, Big Tree! The Kona Hema Preserve is Home to the Largest Koa in the US

On Saturday, September 29, The Nature Conservancy hosted a volunteer work day in the Kona Hema Preserve in South Kona. Most of the work day was focused on replacing barbed wire fencing that is a potential danger for the Hawaiian hoary bat, but volunteers also had an opportunity to take a short detour through the forest to visit the largest known koa tree in Hawaii.
