Doug Teeple is the only person I’ve ever met who converted a car from gas-powered to Electric Vehicle (EV). When he converted it in 2005, Doug's eGhia was just about the grooviest little car I’d ever seen. A lemon yellow Karmann Ghia you would see around town, but never hear. You expected the VW engine sound, but it didn’t deliver. Instead, it delivered Doug where he needed to go, within limitations (30-40 miles before recharging), while simultaneously delivering him from the evils of gasoline consumption.
Today, Doug is President of the Big Island EV Association, a coalition of EV enthusiasts specifically focused on the issues of EV ownership on the Big Island of Hawaii.
