Bigger than Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Lanai and Molokai combined, the Big Island of Hawaii lives up to its name and offers up some serious elbow room. And, with median residential prices on Oahu topping $715,000, Hawaii Island's $375,000 median residential price is very alluring.

Considering a Permanent Hawaii Visit? 

Which Island? When? How? My husband and I had an opportunity last week to spend some time at Kaanapali Beach on the Island of Maui. This beach is where we sat in 2006 and asked ourselves, "Why don't we move here?" We knew that Maui, while we loved it, was not the place for us, so that left us asking... where? Kauai?  Too small and wet for our taste. Oahu? Too congested and crowded. Kailua-Kona on the sunny leeward side of Hawaii Island turned out to be just about perfect for us. If any readers out there have also pondered making the move to Hawaii there are some questions I'd like to suggest you ask and some research to pursue before making a commitment.
