In Ke Ola Magazine in 2018 Clark Realty ran this three-part ad campaign:
Home is a Place to…
Laugh, Learn, Love; Dream, Dance, Discover; Respect, Protect, Cherish
The messages in these ads came from the heart. They convey what the Clark ‘ohana believes about the physical structures we call home, the communities within which we go about our day-to-day lives, and also the Big Island itself—the land upon which we build our homes, workplaces, and the places where we gather to create community.
Today, I want to add this:
Home is a Place to…
Work, Shelter, Flatten the Curve
For real estate agents, the phrase “work from home” carries a special meaning. When your agent—under normal circumstances—hears those words they are just as likely to be thinking about your home (or your future home) as they are their own home. That’s the job. That’s our passion. That’s where we want to be.
We are living through something unprecedented in our generation.
To the greatest extent possible, stay at home.
This means all of us.
Is it weird? Yes.
Is it scary? Yes, especially as we are watching the immediate economic fallout cascade through the headlines in our newsfeeds.
Is this guidance permanent? No. And therein lies the reason for hope, courage and patience.
Please, if at all possible right now … Stay. At. Home.
Catch up on some chores.
Go for walks in the sun and fresh air.
Make a favorite meal you haven’t made in a while.
Stream a new show.
Start a new hobby or learn a new skill.
Set up a video chat pau hana with your office mates or friends and family.
Call a neighbor to say hello.
Schedule a virtual conference call with your real estate agent while he or she is also working from home.
We will continue checking with all Clark Realty agents this week and in the days ahead to be sure they are comfortable working remotely using video conferencing, our paperless transaction management system, and all of our digital marketing tools. And, we will be doing everything we can during this unusual time to keep your transactions moving forward, to promptly respond to inquiries about available properties, to keep accurate information flowing, and to help recalibrate and strategize when plans need to be changed.
At the same time, we’re also making adjustments to protect the safety of our employees, staff, clients, office visitors and, by extension, our local community—with special mindfulness and concern for the frontline healthcare workers at our hospitals and health centers.
Effective immediately, we have postponed our Sell-abration islandwide Open House events and our sales offices are open by appointment only for essential meetings. All Clark Realty Office Managers and sales division support staff have been asked to work from home until further notice.
We believe these are the pono steps to take during these exceptional circumstances. Please reach out to your agent with any questions, concerns or needs. If you are not able to reach your agent, contact the Broker-in-Charge for your agent’s office or our Relocation Department.
Be safe, be well, and look for the simple joys of being at home.
It is Clark Realty’s mission to serve our clients and our community with integrity, aloha and excellence beyond expectation.

How to help:
To join us in supporting Big-Island based non-profits who will be on the front lines of responding to the needs of our community in the coming months, please consider contacting your agent to nominate a recipient for a Clark Realty Community Fund 2020 grant. Nominations will be accepted until July 1. Or, you may wish to donate directly now to The Hawaii Food Basket.
