Experience the true aloha spirit, meet your ohana and share stories under the dazzling stars while listening to soothing sounds of ocean waves at the center of the magical, spiritual and historical place called Mauna Lani.
Known as Twilight at Kalahuipua’a, Mauna Lani’s monthly gathering features storytelling, music and perhaps a little hula each month on the Saturday evening closest to the full moon at the oceanfront Eva Parker Woods Cottage at Kalahuipua’a.
On the day of Twilight, many guests start arriving early in the afternoon with their favorite pupus and drinks so they can find a spot near the cottage to await the arrival of Danny Akaka, Mauna Lani’s Hawaiian historian, and a surprise guest of the night, which many times happens to be well-known local community member. As the evening unfolds, Akaka shares his knowledge of Hawaiian history and legends with everyone, and guests often end up sharing stories (and their pupus) with each other.
If you want to experience this aloha spirit, learn about Hawaiian culture, and enjoy a beautiful evening on the Big Island of Hawaii, this is an excellent opportunity to spend an unforgettable evening by the sea at Mauna Lani.
Twilight Talk Story is from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm on the Saturday closest to the full moon.
