Can I get a (reasonable) loan to buy land in Waiki’i Ranch?
When a buyer client asked that question a few years ago, answering yes wasn’t as easy as it is today. With qualifying credit, lenders are now offering 30-year loans for ag land (land with agricultural zoning) with terms that are significantly better than many construction loans. These long term land loans, combined with historic low prices in Waiki’i make investment in this private equestrian community more appealing than ever.
Waiki’i Ranch is located on the Saddle Road on the slopes of Mauna Kea about 12 miles from Waimea. For those who are seeking real privacy and some genuine elbow room (without giving up excellent school opportunities), who appreciate access to great hospital care and who want to live near a lovely rural town where a variety of local farmers markets ensure you can fill your kitchen with produce, meat and fish that is locally grown, Waiki’i is an ideal spot.
Within Waiki’i’s gates, the smallest available parcels are 10 acres, but lots on up to 40 acres are also available. Horse riders and lovers have access to over 5 miles of riding trails along with an arena and polo field. There is also a club house, tennis courts and a well-equipped gym. Gardeners can enjoy deep soil and an elevation that suits fruit trees many people think won’t grow successfully in Hawaii. Flowers (including roses and hydrangeas), vegetables (including asparagus and artichokes), and fruit trees (including apples, plums, nectarines, peaches, kiwi), all grow beautifully. It makes for more than self sufficiency–for many of us who live at this elevation, it is as close to perfect as one can imagine!
