This year’s Christmas festivities in Waimea have an especially moving theme, inspired by two young Waimea residents, Jessica and Cheyenne, who are courageously facing serious medical challenges. These two keiki are reminders to us all that our children are precious and that we should never take our health–or that of our family’s–for granted.

What a thrill it was see the International Space Station from Waimea earlier this week and to know there are astronauts aboard flying the craft at 17,000 mph 342 miles above the earth! Opportunities like this are just one of the joys of skygazing on the Big Island. With just a little advance planning, Big Island residents and visitors can see all kinds of wonderful sights with the naked eye or binoculars, including the Southern Cross, the Milky Way (both spectacular sights in summer) and Omega Centauri.

South Kona’s Ho’omau Ranch Sells for $3.6M

Ho’omau Ranch, formerly owned by actor Jimmy Stewart, closed escrow earlier this week with a final sale price of $3.6 million. The sale includes 12 separate parcels totaling 1,593 acres of land in South Kona, ranging from pastureland to upland rain forest.
