This year’s Volcano Village Artists Hui 25th Annual Art Studio Tour and Sale happened over the weekend after Thanksgiving. The works of art on display during the tour featured magnificent renditions of color, vision and texture and true expressions of the spirit and mystery of the rain-forest. Visitors could glimpse how the Big Island’s volcanoes influence these artists. There is a sublime poetry to existence atop a dynamic mountain such as Kilauea.

When we moved to Volcano a couple of months ago, we were familiar enough with the community to know we looked forward to this new adventure. After all, my son and his family live here–what’s not to look forward to? What I couldn’t have anticipated was what a vibrant community it is.
