The Honokaa Pool: Of the Community, By the Community, For the Community

In the 1950′s the people of Honokaa built a swimming pool using donated equipment and materials and labor. It has been one of the town’s great assets over the years, offering children and adults alike the opportunity to exercise, play or simply cool off in the water on a part of the island where there are no nearby beaches. The only obstacle to greater use was that at times the water was too cold.

HOVE Update: Ocean View Well Nears Completion

At a community meeting held at the community center on September 29, the Department of Water Supply (DWS) stated the Ocean View well is substantially complete. Several community members attended the public meeting to hear the status update for the community well project. The meeting was facilitated by our Hawaii County councilwoman Brittany Smart and discussions were led by the DWS.

Upcountry Paauilo Has a New Road!

The Sand Gulch Bypass Road in Kalopa is finally complete! Upcountry Paauilo’s long-awaited new road is nice and wide with a gentle slope and beautiful views.
