This past weekend, the 39th Hawaiian Cultural Festival was held at Pu’ukohola Heiau (temple) in Kawaihae on Hawaii’s Big Island. It was here at Pu’ukohola that King Kamehameha I conquered his enemies and consolidated his power over the Hawaiian Islands. Visitors to the site can still sense his mana (power) in this place.
